• The Kansas City Star reports that women are still earning less money than men, even though the recession has caused more layoffs in male-dominated industries (construction and manufacturing) than in those dominated by women (education and health care).
• According to the Associated Press, a government report shows that one in four female teens has been involved in a violent incident at school or work, with a higher proportion of low-income girls being affected.
• The Boston Globe published the findings of a local research firm that concluded that Massachusetts budget cuts over the last decade have hit low-income women especially hard.
